Reunion (Part II)

Chapter 2

Sitting down on a rock, I signed. The journey seemed familiar. I've never taken it according to my memory, but yet I knew it as well as the guide. "You seem to know this area well. It surprises me that you'd need a guide," Chris commented to me. "It surprises me that I know this much, but I don't know how or why," I told him. "Maybe, cause it's your destiny," Chris said with a shrug.

But would I be guided this way if it was just destiny? It seems much more than just being led by destiny. It feels like I've been here often enough. Haven't I sat on this rock? Haven't I sat here and watched teh sky? Or was it all just a dream? All a bit of deja vu?

"It's not much longer till we get to the outer city wall," Chris said with a smile. "And we only have a little bit of time before we should rest," I commented standing feeling the winds start to pick up a bit. "Yep. Let's move out," he said walking towards the right. I followed grinning. A gentle breeze caressed my face and welcomed me.

We walked down a brick path leading towards the outer city wall. A gate blocked the path towards the city. Chris gently pulled the gate open and teh gate creaked loudly. "Welcome to Maute Nuela, home of not much," Chris said after we both walked through the gate. Walking to the first main building, we stepped inside and sat down.

"Whatever happened to the inhabitants of this city," I asked Chris. "No one is ure. There are amny theories. Some say that when the viceroy's heart was corrupted, the town died. The waters died and all moved away in dispair. Honestly, I'm not sure what to believe what happened to them," Chris said picking up a place. I stared at it and noticed the quality workmanship that had gone into it.

Suddenly, there was a blash. I was in the city, but Chris was gone. I looked around and saw many people. "Welcome back, Robert. Care for a drink," a woman asked me. I blinked in confusion. Somehow I knew that I knew this lady. "Yes, I'd like some water please, ma'am," my lips uttered. "I figured so. You order the same thing everytime you come here," she said with a smile. "What brings you hear today," she asked me. "Just preparing for a rainy day," I replied with a grin. "We don't get many of those here, but ya know it never hurts to have plans for the future," she commented. I nodded and drank down the water. "Thank you," I said laying some coins on the table. "Zachre," she told me.

My eyes opened and I was there with Chris once again. My mind was clearer than it had been before, but was lost in a sea of confusion. So much information that didn't seem to make any sense. "Come on, Chris. We have to go to the inner city," I said. Chris looked at me confused. "What? What's wrong," I asked impatiently. "No one can get into the inner city without the combination. I don't know it and unless you've got it, then we can't get in," Chris informed me.

Searching trhough the fog I had, I couldn't find anything that might have been a clue. I sighed and sat back down. I felt so defeated. I had come all this way to reach a dead end. It wasn't fair. Was the combination locked in my mind? Was there a clue I was missing? Do I know someone who knew it? Damn it! What was the point of coming here just to come to a dead end?

"Alex, I know this must be frustrating. Maybe I can interest you into seeing the famous garden," Chris commented to me trying to deflect my anger. I nodded and followed him. After several twists and turns and dates, they arrived in a small garden. In the center was seven posts. On each post was something written in a foriegn language I did not understand. I asked Chris about it and he did not know what language it was or what it said.

Another flash of light and April stood in from of me. Chris was once again gone. "Honey, this place is beautiful," she said with a smile. "I have a gift for you too," she said handing me a small box. I opened it and saw a ring with words inscribed onto it. The words I couldn't decipher, but the message was clear. I smiled and slide the ring on. "I love you," I commented holding her tight.

I stood there enjoying the moment. I knew I belonged her in her arms. A gentle breeze blw against my cheek and I closed my eyes. I was enraptured with this moment in time. There were no fears and no doubts when I am in her arms. The simple truth is that I'm so glad that I have her and that she has me.

I opened my eyes to look into her beautiful eyes and she was gone. I looked around and saw Chris. "Are you okay," Chris asked me. She was gone and so was my comfort. A tear came to my eye. "I'm not sure. I just had a daydream of some type. It didn't make sense, but it touched me," I informed Chris. "According to legends, this garden inspires visions and dreams of the journey through life. What did you see," Chris inquired. "It was visions of being here before," I commented. "Very odd," Chris noted as he sat on a bench.

I looked down at the ground trying to put it all together. It didn't quite make sense to me. It was then that I noticed something that sparkled. I picked it up and looked at it. It was the ring I had seen before in the vision. I slid it on my finger and it fit perfectly. "Well, at least one thing went well today," I said grinning.
