History of...
Poet's Terms of Service

When It's Over
By Nathan Albright (2001)

Marriage is supposed to last forever,
Until death takes one of its members,
But far too often anymore
That is not the case,
And there is no "love"
Beyond the present moment.
I hope I do not make
The same mistakes my parents made,
And that I, the child of a broken home,
Will not continue that sad trend.
When it's over,
What can you do but move on,
And when it's all done,
What can you do
But pick up the pieces and carry on?
When it's over
Turn and face the fear
That it will happen again
So you can move on.
