Chapter 2

"How is he doing," a man asked the nurse. "He is doing much better, my love," the nurse told him. "That's great. It must be your gentle hands," he said grabbing her hands into his. "I love the gentle feel of them. I love to hold them close to my own. They are very pretty," he told her. "Thanks. They are something I am proud of. And don't think that it's a one way enjoyment," the nurse commented.

He smiled and said, "Never, would I think that. You know how I feel about you." She nodded and hugged him. "I know the feeling is mutual," she whispered into his ear. He grinned holding her close. "There is nothing better in this world than to be held by the most beautiful girl in all the world," he replied into her ear. She giggled and smiled.

"You know that you are bad," she commented. "Yes, and you like every moment of it," he said gently kissing her cheek. She looked into his eyes and she could feel her heart pounding a million miles per second. He glanced into her eyes and found that his own heart had entered the same marathon. Slowly they moved towards each other and laid their lips upon each other's. Kissing slowly and passionately, the couple's bliss grew.

Slowly, their lips unlocked and they smiled. "There is no greater feeling than to be next to you, hun," the man commented. She blushed slightly and grinned. "I just wish sometimes that we had more time together," he told her. "So, do I. That is my only regret," she commented. "If only...," he began to say, but was interrupted by a movement on the bed.

They looked over and found Lufue Zue waking up. They straightened themselves up and smiled. Lufue sat up and rubbed his eyes. "Mr. Lee, is that you," Lufue asked. The man blinked. "Robert E. Lee, right," Lufue reasserted himself. "I'm afraid you must have me mistaken for someone else," the man commented. "Hmmm... I guess so, you look like someone I used to know," Lufue commented.

"I assure you that I am not him, but you need not worry about who I am," the man assured Lufue. "I see... and what is your name, pray tell," Lufue asked. "If I tell you, you promise not to do anything," the man replied with a question. Lufue shrugged and looked around the room. "Is there anything I could do? After all, I have no weapons. I have nothing right now except the rags I am wearing now, which no offense meant to anyone, but I would prefer not to be in my old clothing. There really isn't much I could do even if I wanted to," Lufue pointed out.

"You make a good point. My name is Robert Russ IV," the man informed Lufue. Lufue tilted his head to the side. "Son of the Viceroy," Lufue asked. "Yes... you could say that. Although, he hasn't been called that in years," Robert told him. Lufue nodded.

"I have heard many good things about you from my people," Lufue commented. "Now, that is something I do not expect to hear. After all, I am my father's son. Not many people like my father. Hence they don't like me. It frustrates me to all ends of the world. After all, I am just my father's son. I am not my father. If I was, then things would be different. Sometimes I think that life just hands us difficulties to get some sort of humor out of it. Sometimes I think that if I wasn't my father's son, then I would be much better off. Sometimes I wonder if this isn't some cruel joke," Robert replied somewhat flustered.

"After all, there are so many things that have happened in my life. I've been hurt several times in the past. I've watched many people get hurt. I've seen so many problems and the solutions being so close, but yet they are not used. I've seen sunshine through my love and I've seen the bitter taste of bloodshed of the heart. Death I see almost everywhere, but life I only see within the inner soul of the one who I love. Hatred has captured most of us. It's rare to find someone who isn't out there just to get the almighty diner. It's rare to find someone who will look past your little quirks and take you for who you are, no matter how imperfect or what not you are. It's rare to find someone who wants you to be happy. Too many times out there, people want only to be happy for themselves," Robert continued.

Lufue looked at Robert and then at the nurse. "At least you have found love with another person. I hope you two never take each other for granted. Life is worth nothing if you have never loved and never have been loved. I know you two love each other. I can tell from the way she looks at him and the ways he looks at her. He tries to hide it better, but he still fails to hide it completely," Lufue told them.

Robert gently held the nurse's hand. "You know he's right. I love you," Robert told her. She nodded and replied, "I love you too."
