Chapter 3

Fue de Joie smiled and read the morning paper. nothing too abnormal was in it. He knew that tomorrow's paper would be quite different. "Would the headline read 'Secfenia Independance Declard'? Or Maybe 'Secfenia While Once Again'," Fue asked himself. Many other possible headlines flowed through his head as his wife began to make breakfast for the two of them.

"How was your trip to Fenia, hun," Fue's wife asked. "It was pretty decent. Secfenia is gonna become independant soon," Fue informed her. She raised one eyebrow and kissed Fue on his forehead. "Today, I break the news to the council," he told her as she placed the warm breakfast on their plates. They ate their food in silence, but it was not something against each other. Her cooking tended to leave them silent as they enjoyed each bite. After Fue and his wife finished, he picked up their plates and put them near the sink.

Fue kissed his wife on the lips and hugged her. "I shall see you later tonight, right," he asked her. "Yes, my love," she replied. Fue grinned and walked out the door heading to the council hall. She looked around and wondered when she should tell him. "Maybe tonight at dinner," she asked herself. She shrugged and started her work of cleaning the house.

Fue de Joie opened the door into the council hall and noticed a small legion of guards. "Can I help you," Fue asked. "Fue de Joie, we are representatives of the Imperial Guard. We have been asked to escort you to another location," the Head Imperial Guard said. "And if I refuse to come with you," he asked. "Then we will have to take you by force," the Head Imperial Guard commented.

Fue looked over the small legion of guards. He recognized most of them. "I, Fue de Joie of Puria, member of the Secfenia Central Guard, will stand against you and anyone who dares to fight against Secfenia," he told them. He looked into the eyes of certain people. "I know that no true Purian would ever arrest me for no reason. After all, this is a land where we believe in the rights of all. We believe that justice will prevail. We believe in Secfenia Independance. We believe in Puria being home to a free thought land. Do you, members of the Imperial Guard, wish to fight against Puria and Secfenia as a while," Fue asked the Guards especially looking towards the ones he knew.

"Enough, with your talk, surrender," the Head Imperial Guard said. One of the other Imperial Guards tore off his rank from his collar and looked towards the others. "I can't arrest Fue for wanting independance. I do too," the one Imperial Guard commented. The Head Imperial Guard watched in shock as the rest of his men followed suit in tearing off their rank.

The Head Imperial Guard turned away from his former men. "This will be noted on your records. I shall be back with more loyal men to take you into custody. Mark my words," the Head Imperial Guard said running out the door. As the door shut behind him, gentle laughs came from the small groups of people that were inside. A few people left the hall and Fue knew that the rumor would spread like wild fire. There was no way to stop what was happening. Instead, he decided, this would be a perfect time to capitalize on it.

He went up to his seat and sat with the other council members. "I request a vote on two items. The first item, is the declaration of independance from the Empire and the unification with Secfenia. All in favor," he asked. All hands went up. "Are there any opposed," Fue asked. He looked around. "Fue, to be blunt, why in the world would we oppose that? What Purian could," one of the female representatives asked. "Not a true one," Fue responded with a smile.

"Effective today, all areas governed by this council are free and independant of the Empire's laws and regulations. We are now governed by this council towards the founding of a new nation called Secfenia which shall be done via this council and the negotiations with the legitimate ruler of Secfenia. Let all corners hear of this news immediately," he told the council recorder.

"Also, I ask of all the council members, to create a new law forbidding any of the old Imperial articles to be used. Anything of the old Imperial articles are to be assembled in the main plaza and several days from now, I will lead the Purification Ceremony," he stated. The council members looked at each other and felt a certain nationalism in them stirring. "Shall we begin that law today," Fue asked them. All nodded in agreement. "Let all corners hear of this news immediately. We shall adjorn for the day and shall carry out the new edicts," Fue said standing. The crowd watching applauded and rushed out to find stuff for the Purification Ceremony.

Fue left the building in a happy state of mind. He headed straight home to tell his wife of the good news. He rushed in and told her everything that happened at the meeting today. She was in shock. "I have to find some Imperial Stuff here. Help me look," he asked of her. He started going through stuff left and right.

She looked through some stuff and picked up a baby bib. "Were you looking for this," she asked him. He looked at the bib and then at her. "Is that new," he asked. "Yes, very," she said with a smile. "Are you... you now," he asked back. She nodded. "I feel dizzy," he told her. She caught him as he was fainting.
