Chapter 2

Robert stood up and looked to the north. "What is it," April asked him. "On my journey, I went to Maute Nuela. You've heard of it right," Robert inquired. April gave him that look that made him feel stupid for asking a question he already knew the answer to. "Of course you do," he said shifting his weight a little.

"While I was there, I kept felling like I knew so much and yet couldn't remember it. I want to go back there," Robert commented. April nodded her head. "Would you mind coming along," he asked tentatively. "Of course not, silly," she said with a smile.

"Alright. It's been a bit since we've been there," Robert said grinning. April stood up and extended her hand to him. He gladly took it and together they started walking. It wasn't long before they reached the pub. Robert nodded towards her and knew she'd be getting stuff ready for the trip. Robert went back to his little room at the inn and got some stuff together.

After getting it all ready, Robert walked back to the pub. Before he entered it, he was stopped by the flower vendor. "Welcome back, Robert. We've been waiting for you to return," the vendor said to him. Robert truned his head to the side. "Do I know you," Robert asked. The vendor laughed. "Knowledge is fleeting and yet you ask if you have some of me. I tell you this. I know who you are. You are the beloved protector. Your voyage has just begun. Care to buy a flower," the vendor asked.

Robert examined him and then noticed a single rose. It seemed to sparkle in front of him. "Robert," a female voice called to him. He stood there confused. Looking around, there was no one on the streets. "You know what you need to do," the female voice informed him.

"Who are you," Robert inquired. "I am you," the female voice said. "That's not possible. I am here," Robert replied. "I am your internal voice. You've heard me before," the voice commented. "Yes, but...," Robert said hesitantly. "You know what we need to do," the voice said more insistantly. "I know. She's coming with me there," Robert told the voice. "Rightly so, for she is the key to knowledge," the voice responded.

Robert stood there for a moment pondering what it said. The world around him faded back into existance. "Beautiful, ain't it," the vendor asked. Robert nodded. He took out three coins and placed it on the cart. The vendor nodded and handed the rose to him. "Thank you. Come again," the vendor said with a grin.

Robert turned away and walked into the pub. Once inside, he went up to the bartender and asked, "Is she in?" Quicker than the bartender could respond, April said, "I thought I heard you come in." Robert grinned and turned to see her coming out from the back. "This is for you love," he said handing her the rose. "It's beautiful," she commented searching for something to put it in.

Robert's face lit up as she thanked him for the rose. Leaning over, she gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Let me put this in my room," she said turning to go into the back. She started walking and noticed he wasn't following. "Come with me silly," she instructed as she motioned for him to follow. Robert complied with a grin.

Walking into her room, he smelled the familiar air that made his heart race. He remembered being here several times. He remembered some of the items in it. After all, some of them he knew he had given to her. When or for what occasion he couldn't recall, but he knew that they were from him. He stood there with a grin on his face.

Then he noticed the crystal rose. Time just seemed to freeze. It reminded him of a time from the past. It was their anniversary and the night had been going very well. They had a nice dinner and a long romantic walk. They had returned to her room to say good night.

She sat there on her bed and smiled. "April," Robert whispered. "Yes," April replied in an equal whisper. "I had a great time with you tonight," Robert commented. "So did I," she told him. "I love you," he said giving her a kiss on the cheek. "I love you too," she said closing her eyes.

He gently leaned in and placed his warm lips upon hers. Her body excited to be near his wrapped her arms around his body. Passionately, their lips parted and he kissed her more intimately. Locked in the embrace, time had no meaning. They were filled with such deep emotions that no one could describe it effectively.

His arms slid across her shoulders holding her tight as their lips unlocked. Opening his eyes, he looked at his beloved's face. She was a very beautiful lady. Her rich brown eyes sparked with energy and life. Her nose was cute and was nice to nuzzle with. her bright cheeks seemed to glow with the love that they shared. Her lips were a lively color filled with fire.

He knew this was the face that he wanted by his side every day of his life. He knew he had found his partner for life, but they had only briefly talked about it. However, it was these times that he knew she felt the same way. She said it so clearly with those beautiful eyes of hers.

She stared at him and felt so free, so happy and above all so loved. She knew this was the face of the man she wanted as a life partner. "In due time," she told herself. It was on this special night that she recieved a gift she treasured more than any she had ever recieved. For tonight, she was given a rose that would never wither away just like their love.
