Chapter 3

Everything seemed to be good for Fue de Joie. He was gaining favor with the council and the people of Puria. he wasn't seen as his father. They knew they were different, but similar. over the next few months, his life reached a high point Fue never expected to see. He became the head senator and began to date a very beautiful young lady. They were soulmates. She attended every single session of the council she could. His bitterness of the past melted away. No one brought it up. No one thought of it at all except Fue who occasionally did. No one dared to bring it up even if they had.

Fue had never felt more alive. Puria rejoiced at his happiness. Fue grinned as he entered the "Purian Pub and Pickes." Fue sat down at a table. A server came over to him and smiled. "Your usual order, Fue," the server asked him. "But of course," he said with a smile. The server nodded and left. Fue smiled as he laid back in his chair thinking of the good thing in life. His political career had bloomed. He was continuing what his father wanted for the people, but with even more success. he was loved by the people and more importantly, by the most beautiful lady in all of Puria.

"Fue de Joie," an older man said interrupting his thoughts sitting down at the same table as Fue. "Do I know you," Fue asked. "Not really. My name is Michael Angelo. I knew your father," the man told Fue. "I see," Fue replied. "Fue, I bring you news and advice. But what I tell you, you can't tell anyone or else, they will die. Do you understand," Michael asked. Fue nodded. "I advise you to be careful. The world is turning upside down. Things are changing. Bitterness is either consuming some or shall devour others later. Your life will look even better after tonight. You will be two and one with love. The joys of it all will blind you of what all I said. You'll remember in due time, but alas it will be too late. Your life will be upside down again and nothing you do can or will ever change it. Enjoy these moments and keep them as treasures," he told Fue. He then stood up tipping his hat and walking out the door.

Fue shrugged and drank a little water. "Who was that man? Do they let anyone in here? I guess so... after all, they let me and my friends in," he said with a chuckle in his heart. He smiled as the server brought out a tender prime rib steak oozing out its tender juices. The roasted garlic mash potatoes next to it were heaped up in a huge pile. On the side was the house specialty, the Purian Pickle. So tasty that one could not take just one bite. Fue slowly began to eat the meal with utter joy and happiness.

One of his friends sat down next to him and put an arm around him. "Fue, how are you, man," the guy said. "Pretty good, Tom. Pretty good, Tom," Fue told him. "Man, I wish I had your luck. How the hell did you get to be with the most beautiful lady? Is it the charm? The humor? Come on man, you have to tell me. I've been single for too long," Tom commented. "Tom, sometimes you just try too hard. I was just lucky that she kinda fell for me," Fue said with a laugh. "You know, it's not right to trip a girl so she can fall for you," Tom jested him. Fue laughed. "Maybe next time I can accidently trip a girl for you," Fue teased Tom. Both of the two laughed heartily.

They spotted the fallen girl coming into the pub. "Speak of the devil and here she comes," Tom said pointing to her. "You're trouble sometimes," Fue said under his breathe watching her looking for him. "Yeah and you're trouble all the time," Tom zipped back as she noticed the two. She walked over to the two and gave a kiss to Fue's forehead. "Hi, sweetie. How are you," she said with a happy grin. "Pretty good actually... that is when Tom isn't bothering me," Fue said poking Tom in the ribs. "Hey, don't look at me. I'm an angel," Tom said drawing a halo around his head. "More like a demon," Fue commented. "Well, you might know about that, you evil mage," Tom speared back. Fue looked angry for a moment and then laughed.

"You two boys are always causing problems. I guess that'll make Tom a good choice for Best Man," she told them. Fue blinked. "What," Tom asked. "You heard me. Since Fue and I are going to get married," she informed him. "We are," Fue asked slightly taken back. "You do want to, don't you," she inquired to Fue in front of a very quiet pub. Fue felt the pub on edge while he thought it over. She took out a gold ring and offered it to him. "Fue, will you marry me," she asked him. The world just seemed to pause for Fue as the world around him began to spin.
